Ever stop to think about how you came to be sitting in the metaphorical “chair” you occupy?
Of course you’ve worked hard and made smart career moves to be the professional you are today. But beyond that, what serendipity, kindness and randomness wove together to shape your occupational journey?
As we head into Thanksgiving, we’re sharing a few stories of gratitude from some of our team members for the people who helped them along our career path and changed their life for the better. We invite you to do the same. Maybe even reach out to a few shining stars who lit your way to say “thank you.” You will likely make their day, or even their year. Heck, maybe they’ll pay it forward and you’ll have started a wave of goodness.
“I will always be grateful to a dear friend of mine for introducing me to recruiting. Fresh out of college and unsure of my next steps, I received a trajectory-changing call from her. She needed someone to fill her role so she could attend grad school full-time, and less than a week later, I began my journey as a technical recruiter. That single phone call has taken me to amazing places, including overseas. It has connected me with incredible people who have become friends and has allowed me to support myself. I think about this often, even if I don’t say it nearly enough—THANK YOU!”

“I was working three jobs after college, unsure of what I wanted to do. I had no direction and no clue where to begin. One night, while waiting tables I started talking to a nice older couple about life. The husband gave me his card and told me to reach out. I did (which was totally out of my comfort zone), and our conversation led to my first “office job” where I learned about something new (Mortgage lending), gained foundational office management skills and started my professional network – all of which lead to my next job and finally to Creative Alignments where I’ve been for ten years!”

“I recently got a call from a job candidate I placed in a role 18 years ago. He’s still with the same company, which promoted him several times, and he is about to retire. He shared with me how that job changed his life and how grateful he was to me for helping him in his career. It was so nice to hear this reminder that we recruiters do have the ability to positively impact people’s lives and wellbeing when we connect them to jobs where they feel valued, fulfilled, and inspired.”

“I will never stop being thankful to Creative Alignments for introducing me to pickleball. It got me out of my leftover pandemic languishment, it’s allowed my family to spend more time together on a weekly basis, and overall, I’m feeling healthy again. Instead of dining out or doing something sedentary, my friends and I will often spend our time together on the courts. Every now and then, someone will tell me how thankful they are for Creative Alignments for bringing the sport into my life, and subsequently, theirs!”

“While in my first job out of college, my manager was offered an amazing opportunity at another company to launch a new product line for a well-known brand. She took me with her, taught me the ropes, and handed me boat loads of responsibility, pushing me to grow and learn. Then she stepped it up even more. She left for yet another opportunity and handed me the reins to direct the division we were launching. Stepping into her role, I was in way over my head, but I quickly figured it out and learned more than I ever thought possible. I am so thankful to her for getting me out of a job where I wasn’t learning much and tossing me into the proverbial fire – aka kickstarting my career.”
